The nearest airport to Thangu Valley is Bagdogra Airport, about 124 km from Lachen. From the airport, take a taxi to Gangtok, and from there, travel to Lachen and onwards to Thangu.

By Train

The closest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP), located around 114 km from Lachen. Taxis are available from NJP to Gangtok, and onward to Lachen.
